Nagle Rice Welcomes Minister Norma Foley and Minister Jack Chambers

Today we were honoured to welcome Minister for Education  Ms. Norma Foley and Minister for Sport Mr. Jack Chambers to Nagle Rice School. What a wonderful occasion to relaunch ‘The Daily Mile’ in association with ‘Athletics Ireland’. We were delighted to welcome Mr. Hamish Adams CEO of Athletics Ireland, Mr. Frank Greally, Ambassador for the daily mile and Ms. Valerie O’Brien. We thank Mr. Michael McCarthy Chairperson of our board of management, Fr. Danny Broderick, Ms. Gina Barron from our Parents Association, Councillors Michael O’Shea and John Francis Flynn who all represented our school and community.

We were honoured to be invited to relaunch the Daily Mile in Nagle Rice school. The Daily Mile is a social physical activity, with children running or jogging – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends. Children can occasionally walk to catch their breath, if necessary, but should aim to run or jog for the full 15 minutes.

We want every child to have the opportunity to do The Daily Mile at primary school, and are now working to build The Daily Mile’s community in our school.

The Minister was welcomed by our wonderful musicians Michael O’Connor and Donnacha Leane. The Minister met with all the pupils and staff on our all weather pitch and we were blessed with the sunshine. We wish to thank both Ministers for their kind words and meaningful interaction with all staff and pupils. Finally we wish to thank and congratulate the pupils of Nagle Rice who were fantastic ambassadors of our school.
