Recently our 6th classes in Nagle Rice had the fun task of taking care of some Native Sea Animals. Both classes were giving a lesson about Marine Life from Marine Biologist Conor Hinchcliffe from Sea Synergy, Waterville. Each class were tasked with looking after an aquarium for 10 days. We had Shore Crabs, several Gastropods, Prawn, Sea Anemone, Shanny fish(common Blenny) and the STAR of the show (pic 3) Common Starfish. While we observed and recorded to our hearts content we also took time to show off our precious creatures to all the classes in the school. (pic 4,5 and 6) On Conor’s return the pupils showcased their group projects which had been worked on over the 10 days. This was a wonderful start to our Green school theme for this school year, Global Citizenship – Marine Environment. Mr. F.
Congratulations to all the boys and girls for their participation in our school Maths Week 2022. Maths week is important to help learners of all ages enjoy maths and to highlight the importance and creativity of this area. Mathematics promotes the ability to think rationally, analyse and solve problems, and process data clearly and accurately. It was great to see all the positivity towards maths throughout the school. Well done to all
Our pupils were delighted to participate in ‘Heritage in Schools Week’. Many thanks to Catherine Daly from Killarney National Park for bringing the fantastic menagerie of animals to our school. The children were able to view this large display of Irish Mammals as well as explore their traits and habitats. They categorised them and explored the difference between predators and prey.
It has been a very busy few weeks here at Nagle-Rice since Mr. Fell announced his retirement. We were blessed to have such a humble and caring man at the helm for the past 16 years. This week we have been celebrating Mr. Fell with a wonderful week of songs, poems, music, ice-cream van, parties and more. Special thanks to Gina and all our Parent’s Association who have done an unbelievable job behind the scenes preparing the party bags for all pupils, balloon displays and for the fabulous food display the gave to the staff during the week. They have gone above and beyond. We really appreciate it.
Each class has been busy with art displays honouring our wonderful leader. We will miss you so much Mr. Fell. We thank you for all you have done at Nagle-Rice. Go n-éirí leat. “Look back with graciousness and thanks on all your great and quiet achievements”-(John O’Donoghue)
Many thanks to Jordan Lee who visited Nagle-Rice yesterday with his girlfriend Maddie. He is our local paralympian and brother to Isabelle and Rachel, pupils in our school. He gave a wonderful insight into his life as an athlete and overcoming adversity with some wonderful advice to all pupils in the school. Jordan you are an inspiration to us all. Thank You.
